3 ways to be more efficient
Most Americans live life in fast forward. This can sometimes leave you worn out and seem like you’re running but not getting anywhere. Here are some guidelines that can get you efficient and mindful.
Stop multitasking – Although most people think that if they multitask you would be able to handle much more, this is not true because our brain is not meant to do several things at once. Switching from one task to the next, for example textings, talking and writing, will reduce energy and accuracy. Your brain has to constantly shift its goals and operation. To avoid multitasking, stop and concentrate on doing one thing at a time, then move on to the next task. Accept that concentrating on one task at a time, will make you more efficient, mindful and engaged.
Slow down – To slow down your day, you will need to acknowledge a completed task, congratulate yourself on its completion and move on to the next task. This process will also help you organize your day better and have the time to think before you leap into action. If you suddenly feel extremely rushed, take a moment, maybe grab a cup of tea or take a walk and regroup.
Identify your thoughts about getting things done – Making a to do list is a good way to get things done. However, if you’re constantly increasing that to do list and not congratulating yourself on what you’ve achieved, you will be left tired and demotivated. Identify wants important in your life and at the end of the day treat yourself to a job well done.
