3 Ways to Reduce Your Food Budget

Throwing money at “quick” food solutions isn’t the way to go especially if you are on a tight budget. Unfortunately, some people don’t enjoy cooking so much, and often end up spending a lot of money, which can be easily saved to cover other expenses. So, here are 3 ways by which you can cut your food budget in half:

#1: Avoid ready-made solutions
As simple as this might sound, buying anything that you wish to eat which is sold in the supermarket is far more expensive than make it at home. It’s a good idea to figure what you eat the most and make learn how to make it (even in bulk) rather than going to the grocery story every now and then.

#2: Become a vegetarian
Meat is expensive. Vegetables aren’t so much. It’s a good idea to stick to a vegetarian diet especially with beans, rice among others, just so that you can save a good amount of money. In fact, you can reduce your budget to half by doing this while having the occasional meat-based foods once or twice a week.

#3: Shop for groceries only three times a week
While this tip might not be well-received by people who enjoy eating fresh fruits and vegetables, the truth is that it works to reduce your spending quite easily. All you have to do is ensure that they last for at least 10 days, and for this, putting them in airtight containers is the best thing to do. Finally, take one day out of your schedule as a ‘meal prep’ day.
