Money saving tips for College students
Being a college student is hard enough with assignments and headlines, couple that with money woes and you’ve got a whole lot of stress. Here are a few money saving tips that can really help you stretch your monthly allowance or paycheck.
- Don’t buy, rent your textbooks- Get a library card from your university and your local library. Instead of buying your textbooks, rent them for a week or read them at the library. When you rent a book for a week make sure you take notes, photocopy or scan sections that you feel are important. Libraries these days offer videos and documentaries for rent. These are great, since you wouldn’t have to spend on renting DVD’s for the weekend.
- Your coffee buzz- Coffee is a must when studying and completing assignments. To make sure you don’t spend on coffee at uni, take your own flask filled with your favourite brew. If you pop into a starbucks, make sure you order the smallest cup for $2 and ask for refills.
- Packet noodles- If you don’t buy anything else make sure you stock up on a few packet noodles. Add protein by frying a few eggs. This is a great snack and can really shave your monthly take out bill.
- Bring your snacks- If you have a whole day of uni, bring along some snacks with you. Easy snacks to pack are yoghurt, crackers and cheese, fruit (fresh or dry), rice cakes with peanut butter and jelly or tuna sandwiches.
