Christmas time is one of the best times of the year for many people. It’s the holidays after all. For some, Christmas is actually one of the most stressful times of the year. First, there is the increase in expenses, which can be quite a jump between gifts and entertainment. The other issue is that of visiting relatives and family and perceived amazing Christmas. Here are some tips for reducing stress during the holidays:
Plan ahead
Plan whatever possible ahead. Do this by making lists of everything you need, visiting family, gifts, groceries etc. The more information you put down, the less you will need to worry about. If it helps, use an excel sheet or some kind of project management tool.
Priorities
Order the items on the list by priority and work on that order. When it comes to cooking, a lot of Christmas cooking and prep can be done the day before and frozen or refrigerated and finished on the day.
Sales
For cost concerns, do as much gift shopping as possible during holiday sales. Take advantage of discounts and vouchers. There are also mega sales like Black Friday and Cyber Monday for gift ideas.
Delegate
Look to delegate the responsibility for some tasks to other members of the family. This way there is time and mental bandwidth to focus on more important tasks. A good example of this is to get the husband and kids to put up the tree and decorate the house.
